Happy 75th Birthday!

This weekend we celebrated Grandma's 75th Birthday.  She is such a special woman, who has taught me many things over the years from how to suck the sweet nectar off honeysuckles, shell peas, and shuck corn from the garden to the importance of always trusting God and persevering through the most difficult circumstances.

This past February marked three years since Grandma suffered a major stroke leaving her paralyzed in her left arm, very weak in her left leg, a slightly croaked smile, and other more subtle changes in her personality.  She fought a tough fight spending 30 days in the hospital (in and out of the ICU's several times) and three months after that at Westminister Canterbury for rehabilitation.

While we have mourned the lose of the Grandma/Mom/Wife we knew prior to her stroke, we have cherished (and continue to cherish) everyday we have been given with her, not taking any of these precious memories for granted.

Our future does not always turn out quite like we plan but regardless of whether or not we understand it, it is all part of God's perfect plan for us.
